Tuesday T&T

Today I am doing something a little different.  I am not doing any special technique because I pretty much did it already when I participated in our blog hop with Flower Soft, that started on June 22.   If you think you missed it you didn't:

  • It's still open until this Saturday, June 29,
  • You have the opportunity to win 2 Gift Certificates.  One by IO and one by FS

For more information on how to be eligible go HERE.

P1040511STEPS:

  1. Stamped CAC Dotty Circles on Neenah Natural cardstock with Memento Angel Pink.  Used Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles as a stencil to get the background shown above.
  2. Stamped Frilly Forget-Me-Nots (can also be purchased as part clear set Spring Medley) with Brilliance Galaxy Gold, embossed to dry, painted with Twinkling H2O's, glued and applied Baby Pink Flower Soft, applied Stickles glitter glue to the centers.  Trimmed around, applied 3D pop dots and set aside.  (It was so much easier cutting around the flowers with the flower soft for body)
  3. The die cut is from Circle Shaker Die Set.  Went around it with Angel Pink brush marker and mounted on a piece of the background.  Stamped the sentiment from Hydrangea clear set with Memento Bamboo Green and applied 3d pop dots to the back.
  4. Mounted ribbon to back and taped to one end.  Punched slots into sentiment die cut, threaded ribbon though slots, taped to other end, and mounted bouquet.
  5. Applied ribbon bow and stick pin.  Applied al little glitter glue to 3 of the centers of Dotty Circles.

Done and really fun too!

Here is something you might want to check out, before our "What's Shakin'" Challenge which starts on July 4th.   Instead of building your own, try using one of THESE.  They are so easy to use.  HERE is a great tutorial on how it is done by our leader, Mitra Friant.

Thanks for stopping by to look and share.  See you again on DT Thursday, June 27.

P1040507

The steps I used to create my card are listed below:

  1. Stamped Sea Grass with Desert Sand on Solar White cardstock twice and trimmed around both images, taped together and applied Flower Soft Delphinium Blue as shown.
  2. Stamped Summer Pot Small with Alabaster Fluid Chalk Ink on leftover brown cardstock.  Applied white embossing powder and overheated a little for a fired pottery look.
  3. Cut Large Bow Die cut with leftover red cardstock and applied Strawberry Flower Soft to the center.
  4. Used largest Mini circle die and Magic Matter to create a circle for the sentiment from Spring Medley clear stamp set, stamped with Danube Blue.  Applied FS Patriot around the edge.
  5. Created the CAC backgrounds with Fluff and Summer Sky and Desert Sand inks.  Used Spellbinder largest Curved Rectangles die as a stencil for the backgrounds.  Used the largest die cut and Neenah Laid Ivorystone behind that.
  6. Everything was mounted as shown.

I think this card could be used for an Operation Write Home soldier or a thank you card for someone as July 4th draws nearer.  It was pretty quick to do and fun.  Loved working with the dies and the Flower Soft.

Check out the other blogs below for some really beautiful cards.

Hop list:

Thanks so much for joining us in the fun.  Have a great time with each blog post and see you back here on June 30th for the IO Gift Certificate  winner and on the Flower Soft Blog for their winner.

I will be back on June 25 for Tuesday Tips and Techniques and then on June 27 for our Colors of Summer Challenge winner and DT Thursday.

Thanks for stopping by to look and share.

Tuesday T&T Layered and Foiled By The Sea!

P1040505
I chose Grace for today's tutorial.  I used a couple of different techniques.  The first was using a heat and stick embossing powder to attach some mica flakes and the second is foiling Graces shell.   Below is how I created the card itself.

BTS2
Images First:

  1. I built the card from the back to the front so I inked up Clouds with Memento Summer sky and stamped on Neenah Solar White cardstock, and then
  2. I inked Rolling Waves with Fluid Chalk Alabaster on blue cardstock, then
  3. I used a caramel colored piece of Bazzill Dotted Swiss and stamped it with VersaMark and Dots, applied heat and bond embossing powder, heated until clear, applied Mica Flakes Gold Dust and then heated again to seal it.
  4. Stamped Grace (from my clear set) twice on white cardstock with Memento Toffee Crunch.  Painted her with twinks.  Applied Jones Toned think layer to the shell.  Let dry for an hour and applied the Pearl foil.  BTW - if you buy any of this, you don't need a lot. The piece you see there is about 8 years old and still has lots more to use. One copy  of Grace will be used to layer (of course).

Building Background:

  1. Die cut the card shape using Resplendent Rectangles.
  2. Used the die as a stencil to get the Clouds background.
  3. Lined up the Rolling Waves on top of that.  Have to admit this was a leftover from a previous card.
  4. Tore the Dots background along the top.  Cut it 2" deep.  Taped it in place and used the bottom edge of the Clouds to trim it.  (Do you follow this?)  If not you can ask.  :-)  Applied glitter glue to the torn edge and applied Mica Flakes Gold Dust on top of that.
  5. Threaded pink organza ribbon around the edge and tied a bow.
  6. Mounted to another piece of caramel cardstock.

 Finishing The Card:

  1. Finished Grace, embossed her from the back and mounted with 3D pop dots.
  2. Cut out the Starfish, Scallop, swirled shell, and flower in her hair.  Embossed them from the back and mounted them.
  3. Used Glossy Accents on the swirled shell and the Starfish.
  4. Used Gesso in a little fine tipped bottle I have for the Scallop.
  5. Added a 2mm pearl to the flower in her hair.
  6. Added a heart shaped pearl to the lower right hand corner with Glossy Accents.  Dusted with the Mica flakes.
  7. Stamped By The Sea sentiment with Memento Toffee Crunch.

It was a fun and fairly quick card.   I am really enjoying seeing all of your cards for our "Bloom Where You Are Planted" Challenge too.   For those of you who haven't joined in the fun yet, there's still time.  Get your cards posted HERE before tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m.

Thanks for stopping by to look and share!   I'll be back with the winner of the challenge on DT Thursday.   Hope you will join us for that fun too.
