Your Favorite Technique Challenge

Check out the DT's "Favorite Technique" designs by clicking on their links below!  They are using products from our New Spring/Summer Collection and our DIES too.  Soak up inspiration, then come back and join us in the fun by posting your card at the bottom of this post between now and next Wednesday.  I can't wait to see them!!!

How fun is this challenge for doing what you want?  For those of you who aren't familiar with our challenges, the guidelines are below:
  • Ending time for this challenge is Wednesday, March 13, at 10 p.m. EST.
  • Use the Inlinkz thumbnail format at the end of the March 7 post.
  • The drawing is for a $25 Gift Certificate for use in our on-line store.
  • The winner is picked using Random.org.
  • The players are notified of the winner by email that night.
  • The winner's name will be posted with the DT Thursday post on Marach 14.
  • All entries are posted in the Customer Card Gallery under Card Galleries at the top of the page, with a link back to your blog/gallery post.

Have some fun, invite a friend to create too, have a stamping party and/or create your card using all IO stamps, and then post it using the Inlinkz at the bottom of the 03/07/13 challenge post.  If you have questions please email me.

I only have one Impression Obsession stamp so I'm afraid I am using it yet again! My favorite technique of all time is heat embossing and water coloring the image. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Die Alignment Tutorial Just a brief post today to draw your attention to the PDF tutorial I made showing how I align our stamps and dies. When we first began adding dies to our product line, I had the dies made with alignment holes on the outside. These holes are meant to help people line up stamped images with dies and are used by many companies. The problem with them is that they eliminate the ability to use the negative shape cut by the die, and there are some really fun applications that use the negative die cut. I actually didn't like the fussing around with the alignment holes in the first place so I just began doing it the way I outline in the PDF. It's quick and easy and results in a well-aligned die cut image. I added it to the Techniques & Projects section of the website, as well as in the Dies section. While I was at it, I finally added the PDFs of the catalogs onto our new site like they were on the old site. Enjoy! Mitra

Tuesday T&T Background All Around I fell in love with Cover-A-Card Rooster the minute I saw it. I had in mind to do a card using some of the background as an adornment for the sentiment. How things change once we get going. Here is what happened: IMAGE: Stamped the Rooster background with a Toffee Crunch inkpad accidentally filled with Espresso Truffle ink (an accident by working on more than one card at a time. LOLOL) Luckily spotted roosters are dark with both brown and black. :-) Painted the images with watercolors, but any medium will do. Once done I really didn't want to cover them up with anything. Assembling Card And Sentiment: After deciding to keep it simple so the background would show I cut it out using Spellbinders Curved Matting Basics die. Mounted that on a piece of red cardstock with rounded edges using a punch. Mounted a simple piece of green organza ribbon and bow. Used a Mini Circles Tag for the sentiment from Hydrangea, stamped with Espresso Truffle. So you see it didn't take very long at all.
