Tuesday T&T VersaMark Resist Background

IBG1

When I visited the DT blogs for the Yellow & Gray Challenge, Jeanne Streiff's post was just awesome.  The background for her card is a "Water Stamping" technique.  If you haven't seen it get on over THERE and take look.  At first glance I thought it was a resist.  It got me thinking and I decided to do a VersaMark resist for the background on my card for today.

IBG2
Main Images:

  1. Shell Frame Collage was stamped twice with Memento Desert Sand on white cardstock.  So Glad We're Friends from All Occasions II clear set was stamped with Memento Peanut Brittle as shown.  A Sakuro Gelly Roll Glaze Clear Pen was used over the Peanut Brittle and, while still wet, Deco Art Glamour Dust glitter was added.
  2. The 'base' image was put through the Cuttlebug using the Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles die shown for cut and emboss.  The second image was trimmed, painted with twinks, embossed with a stylus on an embossing mat, and then mounted on the base image with 3D pop dots.

IBG3 IBG4

VersaMark Resist Background:

  1. The CAC Shells was inked with VersaMark ink and stamped twice on Glossy White Cardstock side by side.
  2. The ink was dried with a heat gun.  If one isn't used you get a smudged look and that's okay if you want the 'smudged' look.
  3. IBG5

  4. The areas were sponged one color at a time, with a different sponge for each color. When I finished I used a little more Memento Rich Cocoa.
  5. I used a piece of Kleenex to rub down the resist as a last step.

IBG6 IBG7

Assembly:

  1. The corners of the 4"X5.25" background and the 4.25"X5.5" white cardstock behind it were punched using an EK Success rounder corner punch.  The BG was mounted on the white.
  2. The image was mounted with 3D pop dots.  The ribbon was put though and attached.
  3. The bow was mounted, 3 pearl stickers were attached to the lower left, and Glossy Accents was added to some of the shells.
  4. The 5.5"X8.5" white cardstock was folded.  The cardfront was mounted on the card.
  5. A piece of the background had been put through the Cuttlebug using the largest Romantic Die to get the edge mounted on the inside top.
  6. Another piece was put through again to get the decorative pieces for the envelope.
  7. The smallest die provided the background for the shell seen above the main image.
  8. The shell was embossed from the back and mounted with 3D pop dots.
  9. Viva Decor Ice White Pearl Pen was used on the inside card trim and the envelope.

And that's the card for this week!  I hope to see you all back here for DT Thursday, and we still have our Yellow & Gray Challenge open.  Join us in the fun and check out how HERE.

Tuesday T&T Shakin' Chevron!

WS1AB
I have been dying to use the new Cover-A-Card Chevron stamps.  For this card I used on Thin Chevron.  Below is how I did that 'shakin' background and the rest of the story too!!

WS1b

Main Images:

  1. Pumpkin Stack was stamped with StazOn Saddle Brown on natural cardstock and painted with Twinkling H2O's.  Alcohol inks or dye ink pads can be used too.
  2. The image was trimmed on the inside and outside as shown.
  3. The Bare Tree Die was put through the Cuttlebug with dark brown cardstock and attached down the trunk with double sided tape to the main image.

Background:

  1. CAC Wood Grain was stamped on white cardstock with Memento Toffee Crunch.   Thin Chevron was stamped going north and south with Memento Bamboo Leaves on the Wood Grain as shown.
  2. Another Thin Chevron was stamped with Memento Bamboo going east and west as shown.

WS1c

Sentiment, Embellishment, & Assembly:

  1. The sentiment from Social Greetings 2 was stamped with Memento Tangelo on white cardstock.  Fiskars Deckle scissors were used to trim around it as a rectangle.  The edges were roughed with a scissors edge.  Memento Toffee Crunch was used around the edges with a sponge dauber.  It was attached to the trunk of the die cut tree with a gold craft pin.
  2. The first background with Wood Grain and Thin Chevron was used as the trim for the single stamped Thin Chevron as shown.
  3. The Thin Chevron was mounted with lines going north and south.  I thought that was more Halloween and in line with the sentiment.  That was mounted on the same color dark brown I used for the tree.
  4. The Pumpkin Stack with "What's Shakin'" was mounted using 3D pop dots. (I even use the left over edges from the 3D pop dots.  They were perfect for the frame.)
  5. Viva Decor Bronze Glitter Liner Pen was used for the eyes of the pumpkins and the sentiment 'dots'.   Stickles Diamonds glitter glue was used here and there on the leaves and tree!

P1040162Inside Card:

  1. Leftover Thin Chevron and the leaves from inside the image were used for the left hand side of the card.
  2. Supplies are listed at the bottom of the post.

Hope you enjoyed seeing how I did the card.  If you have questions please feel free to email me.  Below is the information for our next challenge day after tomorrow!

IO Fan Shares Her Project

BEGINNING

The above switch plate covers were created by IO fan Sandy Kraus.  She has only been stamping for about 4 years and said, "It was love at first stamp"!!  She is sharing with us how she made her covers below.

Switch Plate Covers Using Impression Obsession Stamps

These stamps are way too pretty and interesting to use only for cards, scrapbooks, or for small pictures to frame. So, how about adding a little light on the subject; use the stamped, colored (Copics of course) images for switch plate covers. The principal is the same as when wallpaper was even more popular than today.  We used to wallpaper the switch plates so the boring white plate disappeared into the patterned paper

Supplies:

Crabapple Vellum
Steps:

  1.  Make a template out of vellum using the switch plate for size.  The vellum lets you see the image through paper adding about 1/2 inch around four sides.
  2.  Stamp image on cardstock and color.
  3.  Use the template over your image to decide the best placement of rectangular slot for toggle switch.
  4. CrabAppleBlossom2jpg

  5. Cut out image to size of template.
  6. Miter cut four corners.
  7. Mod Podge back side of image and front side of switch plate.  Modge Podge makes the cardstock very pliable.
  8. Put two sides together. There will be a little wiggle room but it does dry quickly.
  9. Bend extra paper to back and press and hold in place until it almost dries.
  10. RabApple Blossom3

  11. Now Mod Podge front using brush stokes, fake stucco from rough brush stippling etc.
  12. Finally cut and mod podge toggle slot using pattern for reference (a long double ended y cut will work).
  13. Try painting screw heads with a little color to make them blend into pattern.

Finished

A really great project, Sandy.  Thank you for sharing some new ideas for IO stamps.  See you all back here tomorrow for Tuesday T&T.  Thanks for stopping by to look and share!

Friendship Never Melts Away!

FNM1

I know it isn't time for Tuesday T&T, but I had this cutie Snowman With Bird card done and so I decided to share it:

FNM3  FNM4

Background:

  1. Cover-A-Card Ticking was stamped twice (side by side) on white cardstock with Memento Summer Sky.
  2. Cover-A-Card Snowflakes was stamped on the left side Ticking area using Memento Toffee Crunch.
  3. The Snowflakes were also stamped alone on a remnant piece of white cardstock for embellishments on the card, inside card, and envelope.

Images:

  1. One Snowman With Bird was stamped on a piece of white cardstock with Memento Toffee Crunch and then cut out.  The nose and arms of the snowman and the bird and his feet were painted.
  2. A second image using the same ink was stamped onto the Cover-A-Card Ticking to the right (without the Snowflakes).  The snowman's neck scarf, hat, and the bird's neck scarf were cut out and mounted using for the 'Paper  Piecing' technique on the snowman and bird.  The stripes on both scarves were painted and the hat rim was painted on the snowman.
  3. A piece of white cardstock was put though the Cuttlebug using the largest Deckled Rectangles die.  The edges were shaded with the Memento Toffee Crunch and a Niji waterbrush.
  4. The cutout image was mounted on the deckled die cut using 3D Pop-Dots (except for the bird on the snowball).   The shadow around the snowman was done with Summer Sky mixed with water and applied with the Niji waterbrush.
  5. The sentiment, Friendship Never Melts, was stamped on white cardstock using Memento Rich Cocoa and put through the Cuttlebug using one of Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two.   The ends were trimmed and the edges painted like the deckled rectangle.  A little roughing of the edges was done using the scissors edge.
  6. Stickles Stardust was added to the snowman, snowball, ground area, and sentiment as shown.  White Flower Soft was added to the pom-pom of the snowman's hat and the rim of the hat.

Action Wobble 1  Actionwobble a

The Bird & The Action Wobble:

  1. Remember the bird was left without gluing or 3D pop dots.  Here is how I mounted the Action Wobble.  I didn't want it to have a full wobble.  :-)  So I flipped it over.  Top becomes the bottom and vice versa.
  2. I punched a hole in the corner of the deckled die cut under the bird and snowball area.
  3. I trimmed around the small circle as shown in the first photo above.   Then I threaded it threw the hole like a corkscrew.
  4. Glue dots were used between the bottom of the Wobble and the rectangle base.
  5. Because the Wobble is reversed, a glue dot was added to the little round plastic circle center and then attached to the bird/snowball.  It moves but not enough to break the snowman arm.  The rest of the Wobble base on the bottom was trimmed to the edge of the die cut.

Assembling:

  1. The Ticking with Snowflakes was mounted to white cardstock.
  2. The snowman with bird on rectangle was mounted as shown with no pop dots on only the right-hand bottom corner.
  3. The sentiment was mounted with 3D Pop dots.
  4. Remnant ribbon was threaded under the image and a bow added with the Bow-Easy.
  5. Trimmed snowflakes from that background were trimmed and mounted on the ends with some of the same glitter.

FNM2
Inside Card & Envy:

  1. Deckle scissors were used on leftover Ticking & Snowflake background for the inside and on envy as shown.
  2. More trimmed snowflakes from the Snowflake only background were used as shown with added glitter glue.

That's it for this week on T&T.  See  you back here Thursday for our DT member's treat!!  Hope you week turns out great!  Thanks for stopping by to look and say hi!
