Cover-a-Card™

The Cover-a-Card™ stamps and the Mega Mount™ are being announced at CHA for vendors and as soon as they are available at the online store it will be posted here.

I was going to do a card using one of my new Cover-a-Card™ stamps, but thought what you might like best is to get to know more about the stamp and what you can do with the results. The Cover-a-Card™ stamp used for all of the techniques is CC024 Tapestry.

I did four backgrounds using 4 quick different quick techniques and here they are:

A.  VersaMark Resist -

CC024a

!.  The stamp was inked with VersaMark on Glossy White cardstock.
2.  A sponge brayer was inked with a Pink Dye ink and rolled across the card. You can let it dry on its own.
3.  I stamp on a stack of used computer paper, so I turned it over to blot it just in case it wasn't all dry.  Dye ink dries very quickly, but my pad was inked well and I wanted the ink area even. (Clicking on the photo gives you a much better idea of the coverage and image.

B.  Embossed Resist -

P1020498

1. White cardstock was stamped with the VersaMarked Cover-a-Card™.

2. It was embossed with White Pearl Embossing Powder.  I like this for a Wedding or Engagement card.  It looks lovely on Vanilla or Ivory cardstock for Anniversaries too.  Again, you need to click on it to appreciate how really elegant it can be.

C.  Dye Brayered and Sponged -

P1020489

1.  I brayered White cardstock with a Caramel colored Dye Ink.
2.  Sponged with an Orange dye ink here and there.
3.  Stamped with Tapestry stamp inked with VersaMark.
4.  Embossed with Ivory Pearl Embossing Powder.

Take a look at those Fall colors and the leaves and hearts that show up.  Great for a touch of Fall or a male card really.  Click on it and you will see all of the details.

D.  Sponged Dy Ink and Glitzy Emboss -

P1020482

1.  Sponged White cardstock with a light, medium, and dark Olive dye ink.
2.  Inked stamp with VersaMark.
3.  Embossed with Egyptian Gold Embossing Powder.

The embossing powder has sparkle so it is a little hard to see.....and right, clicking on it will help.  The leaf you have been seeing at the bottom is in the middle on the left-hand side.  I think this looks good for a any season but Winter.  It can be used with anything where nature is involved (leaves, flowers, wild life, etc.).

Now, about the backgrounds.  You say what am I going to do with the extra paper.  Well you won't have any if you stamp on an A2 (4.25X5.5).  Otherwise I do several things.

It can be used:
1.  inside the card and on the lower left side of the envelope.
2.  to punch leaves, etc. for the same purpose.
3.  with other pieces to create interest on the background of your card.
4.  to make a Bargello card similar to this one HERE.
5.  to weave a decorative mat for your card like HERE.

And the list goes on.  We will probably be seeing some of them here too, now that we have these wonderful Cover-a-Card™ stamps!!!

CHA Is On It's Way And.......

I am so excited.  First, my box of new stamps arrived today and second, I can tell you what else is on its way!  See below a picture of one of many of Mitra's new Cover-a-Card™ stamps!!! They measure a full 5.75"X5.75", to quote Mitra,"so you can cover an entire A-2 card both horizontally and vertically.  These Clingable™ red rubber stamps come pretrimmed with soft gray cling cushion and are ready to use with any acrylic block. We think, however, that once you try our new Mega Mount™ (see facing page) with them you'll see just how easy and affordable it is to create your own background paper.  We're stampers aren't we? Stop buying expensive patterned paper in every color of dot and stripe available and customize your backgrounds to match your projects exactly!

Tapestry

And once you know there's a stamp to cover every card with great patterns available, it's only natural you take a look at this:

Picture2

Using traditional mounting methods, large stamps are awkward to hold and it is very difficult to get all parts of the stamp to transfer ink to paper, resulting in blotchy impressions and frustration. Our innovative new acrylic stamp handle is a full 6" x 6" to handle nearly any size image. It features an easy-to-hold handle that you won't drop onto your paper accidentally. A slightly curved surface transfers pressure to only part of the stamp at a time, ensuring a crisp and clean impression every time. Use the Mega Mount™ with our Clingable™ stamps, our clear stamps, our new Cover-a-Card™ background stamps or any other large stamps you have.

So there you have it people!!! What do you think?  Isn't this cool?  What I am going to do now is go to bed, but when I get up I am going to stamp my heart out and hopefully get back here with a technique tutorial using my new Cover-a-Card™ stamps and the images too of course!

There still more to come in the near future.  Mitra has really been coming up with great ideas for our convenience in stamping, and her's too of course!  Thanks for stopping by to say hi!  See you back here when I have cards of course!

We have just received our first Customer Challenge card from Sandra McDonald.  She said, "I'm entering this gorgeous Peacock - E1674 by Gary Robertson of I/O, that I think would be great for a 'Guys Card'.  I used Copics to color in the peacock.  The background paper was given to me by a friend and I do not know the company name."

Thank you so much Sandra for playing and your card is indeed gorgeous!  You can all click on her name to visit her blog and some more eye candy.  You will also be able to view her card in our gallery in a few minutes.

Next week, starting July 6, Monday through Friday, however, the IO Design Team is having a daily joint challenge with the Shimmerz Design Team.  Great fun for everyone.  Just think 2 to 4 new cards a day for 5 days.  I will be posting sneak peaks for our DT here.  I hope to be able to list both DT's daily, So come on over and join the fun.  Now down to "Male" business.  Ha!

I-O Round Fish E1632

For this card I chose Round Fish - E1632 by Gary Robertson and A5455 "dropping you a line".  Gary has some gorgeous wild life stamps.

Image:

I-O Round Fish E1632 2

It was stamped on White cardstock with StazOn Forrest Green ink, painted with Twinkling H2O's, and highlighted with Shimmerz. I used a Niji Waterbrush just slightly wet to paint with Shimmerz.  They really go on smoother for me that way.  I used Glossy Accents on the bubbles and the eyes!

A Spellbinders Round die was used as a template to trace around the image.  Then the image was turned face down in the die and an Embossing Stylus was used to put a rim around the image.  Quicker than going into the other room and back.  The next die down was placed in the middle of that and another rim was embossed. It kind of looks like you might be seeing him/her through a submarine window. It and the words were mounted on 3d Pop dots.

Background:

The DP behind the image and under the ribbon are both from the Basic Grey Marrakech collection.  The paper under the ribbon is really more like the color of the water where the fish is.  The ribbon is May Arts and it is a deep olive with an orange cast to it.  Both are much prettier IRL.  The paper at the very back behind the blue is Stardream Fuse Flame, a hot orange.  The brads are copper.

The Spellbinders Large Oval next to smallest die was used for the words.  I traced the impression with the stylus just like I did for the fish.  I also sponged some of the Twinkling H2O that I used for the water around the edge of the die cut.  The words were stamped with StazOn Olive Green.  I went over them with a Gelly Roll Stardust Dark Green pen.  Copper cord was used to tie into the words.

If I have time I may take another picture.  The colors are more Pumpkin Orange, Aqua, and Olive Green.

Supplies:
StampsRound Fish - E1632 by Gary Robertson and A5455 - "dropping you a line".

Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Super Smooth cardstock, Basic Grey Marrakech collection, Stardream Fuse Flame (Orange) /> Inks:  StazOn Olive Green; Twinkling H2O's African Jade, Sweet Alfalfa, Dreamsicle, Orange Peel, Lemon Yellow; Shimmerz Angel Wings, Pumpkin, Golden Glimmer
Accessories: Spellbinders Nestabilities Large Round dies and Large Ovals, May Arts Ribbon, Copper Cord and Copper Brads.

Don't forget to check out these great DT blogs too!.....and send me your cards ladies!
