Sweet beautiful you by Daniela Dobson

Shaker cards are popular again. Have you seen Impressions Obsession Shake It Pouches? If you haven’t you need to go and take a look. We have different sizes and shapes, ready to be filled. They are self-adhesive. Just stamp your image, place your inclusions on top, peel the backing off and stick them down. Not only that, we have shaker overlays, pre cut to whatever shape you need for your card. I filled mine with sequins and beads.

Sweet beautiful you close by Daniela Dobson
For the inside image I used an older stamp that I had called Strawberry Trees. I colored the strawberries with watercolor crayons. To cover the outside of my large shake it pouch, I used the Circle Shaker Frame Die. This die fits both sizes of circle pouches.I tied twine around the shaker. For the sentiment, I die cut the banner from Banners & Tails and stamped the sentiment from Warm Fuzzies Sentiments. I stamped some stripes at the bottom from Basic Borders 2 stamp set. It looks like washi tape.  I stamped the white background with CAC Screen.

Wine Tag by Laura Fulcher

Laura Fulcher brings us a quick last minute gift idea!

CL41 Thanks Sentiments clear set, A2112 Grapes and D2113 Wine bottle

For my tag, I stamped a saying from the CL41 Thanks Sentiments clear set and then stamped the grapes (A2112) all around the saying. I colored the grapes with watercolor pencils, blended them with a Dove Blender pen, and sponged purple ink around the edges. I then stamped the wine bottle (D2113) onto scrap paper, colored it with watercolor pencils, sponged around the edges, cut it out, and popped it up onto the tag with foam tape. To finish the project, I colored my natural raffia with a purple Copic marker to match the tag.

Have a great day!

Mixed Media Card Tutorial by Dina Kowal

Dina Kowal shares a beautiful Mixed Media tutorial today using paints, tissue and fabulous E2455 Ghost Espresso stamp from the Leigh Hannan line at Impression Obsession.

I had fun, anyway, making a new card to share! I was in a Halloween mood, so I went that direction - I had a piece of cardstock that I had scraped with orange and black acrylic paints, so I used that for my card base. I covered that piece with kraft tissue paper, adhering itwith watered down glue. When it was dry, I lightly rubbed dark brown paint over the piece with my finger to highlight the wrinkles in the tissue paper.

The focal image (Ghost Espresso) was stamped on Neenah cardstock, then brayered with acrylic paint. After the paint was dry, I added more color with Lyra Polychrome pencils , and some acrylic and India ink markers.

Winner Of Pack Your Bags Challenge

First we would like to congratulate the winner of our Pack Your Bags Challenge, Katie Bondroff.  Congratulations and happy shopping with the new images and dies!!

CHA DT Blog Hop Day 4

Welcome to the fourth day of our  CHA DT Blog Hop!  Our winner for Day 3 is Sandy at Simply Sandy Lee!  Congratulations, Sandy, happy shopping too.  You can check out our new Fall/Winter dies and stamps HERE, and the clear sets HERE.  Mitra has been introducing them at CHA at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, this week.

For my card today I chose Leigh Hannan's Ghost Espresso and the sentiment is Kalani Allred's Poisonous Potions (also available in clear set Have Broom Will Travel).  The background is Cover-A-Card Mesh Circles.  I created it by:

  1. Stamping the espresso twice on white cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa twice, painted the first one with Twinkling H2O's.
  2. Cut out the front of the matching plate, the label in the middle and the ghost "steam", painted, and mounted with 3D pop-dots.  Added Stickles Cinnamon as shown.  If you click on the photo you will see the label on the cup says, "Its Scary Good".  :-)
  3. Stamped sentiment on white cardstock inked with Rich Cocoa marker.  Cut out using die from Curved Matting Basics, inked some of the tiny circles of the Mesh Circles stamp with Memento Tangelo and stamped the corners of the diecut sentiment.  Mounted on brown cardstock and used Stickles Cinnamon for the 3 dots.
  4. Stamped white cardstock with CAC Mesh Circles and Memento Tangelo ink.  Used Curved Matting Basics largest die with it and for the matted brown and orange borders.
  5. Added some ribbon and corsage pin with a coffee bean bead from my stash.

  2. Stamped CAC Gingham with Memento Toffee Crunch and Tangelo Orange on white cardstock.
  3. Used Spellbineders Curved Matting Basics A to cut the Gingham and as template for the Bazzill Dotted Swiss borders.  Mounted as shown.
  4. Stamped the top and bottom portion of Poisonous Potions sentiment on white cardstock and cut out using one of the Curved Matting dies.  Mounted on the Bazzill Dotted Swiss cardstock.

Tuesday T&T Embossing With Dies

ED4

I fell in love with the elegance of the Vintage Ornament Die Set.  I also really like the swirl of the Fancy Ornament Die Set too....so I decided to use them both for my card.  Here is what I did:

Embossed Ornaments:

  1. Die cut  2 Vintage Ornaments using white remnant cardstock.
  2. Turned the top side down in the Fancy Ornament die and embossed them both.
  3. Used a Glue pen and glitter to high light the swirls on each.
  4. Die cut 2 tops from some left over gold foil paper.
  5. Attached to each ornament with Glossy Accents.

I knew I wanted a pine branch for them.   To see how much of a branch I needed I created the background for my card front:

  1. Mounted a 4"X5.25" piece of white cardstock to a 4.25"X5.5" piece of red cardstock.

Pine Branches:

  1. Die cut 2 Pine Branches with green cardstock.
  2. Laid them out to see how I wanted to attach them.
  3. Added the branch on the right with 2 sided tape on the back.
  4. Added the branch on the left over that with 2 sided tape.
  5. Added glitter to the top to keep tape from attaching to the envelope later + it looks nice too!

Ornaments And Sentiment:

  1. Attached the ornaments with 2 sided tape.
  2. Cut the merry christmas in two, so I could layer the merry on top, then inked with Warm Red and stamped.
  3. Added 3 gold foil dots, left over from the ornament tops die cuts, to the lower right hand side.  To me, when I see 3 dots at the end of words, they mean there is more to come...in this case on the inside!!
  4. Added remnant red satin picot ribbon bows to the tops of the ornaments.  BTW, it matches IRL.  :-)

That's it for today.  Our next challenge begins on this Thursday and the details are below.
